Buell Motorcycle History

Founded by Erik Buell. Worked as a trainee mechanic, then eventually became the service manager.

In 1978, Buell recorded the fastest newcomer qualifying time for the Daytona 200 race.

Later, he attained his engineering degree. Buell worked for Harley-Davidson as a chassis engineer. Later, Buell left to manufacture his own race bike.

Harley-Davidson supplied the engines. By 1994, Harley-Davidson owned 49% of the business, and went on to to purchase another 49% of the company in 4 years. Buell now assemble over 10,000 bikes a year.
